Our Story
First Generation
The story begins with Mr. George Agathiadis, the son of a Greco-Italian pharmacist, born and raised in Egypt. Years before the 1952 revolution, he left his homeland and settled in Cameroon with his wife, where he immersed himself in the coffee trade.
In 1947, George Agathiadis, the founder of Agga, journeyed to Sangmelima, a town 500 kilometers from the plantations of Douala, the economic capital of Cameroon in West Africa.
His eldest son, Philippe, gradually mastered the complexities of the coffee business while gaining an appreciation for the richness of Cameroon’s volcanic soils. He studied various techniques for plantation cultivation and harvesting.
Deep in the African bush, and on behalf of European multinationals, Philippe established numerous coffee processing factories, many of which continue to thrive to this day.
Our Story
Second Generation
Specialized in the coffee trade, Philippe then began his journey to work in more than 25 coffee-producing countries, which include Brazil, Columbia, Kenya, Peru, Rwanda, and Zaire.
In 1987, Philippe was appointed Arbitrator of quality coffee by the Chambre Arbitrale des Cafes de Paris. This is a world-wide title recognized by all coffee-producing countries. With this recognition, Philippe Agathiadis was proclaimed as a First-Rate Connoisseur.
In 1987, Café Agga was founded in Quebec, a vision brought to life by the passion and enthusiasm of Philippe and Marc, guided by their father’s wisdom and support.
Philippe and Marc represent the heart of Agga’s second generation, blending innovation with tradition. Philippe’s technical expertise and deep understanding of coffee cultivation, combined with Marc’s business acumen and vision for global expansion, elevated the family business to new heights. Together, they’ve honored their father’s legacy while transforming Agga into a globally recognized brand, driven by passion, quality, and integrity.

The AGGA family is proud to present you our secret weapon. Our boys! That's right! You wouldn't be able to enjoy your morning cup of joe without these guys! Not only do they produce the coffee you consume everyday but they also brighten up our days at the office. They are each irreplaceable and exceptional. These men are the heart of AGGA. Some have been with us for over 20 years. Some sing, some shout, some dance… They definitely know how to put an atmosphere in the factory!
Dedicated and eager to learn, our team has been through a lot of changes including the arrival of the BRCGS procedures. These procedures certify our roasting and packaging procedures to guarantee the best quality possible while following the food safety guidelines. These guys are our heroes! Saving people's mornings cup after cup!
