Our Story
First Generation
The story begins with Mr. Georges Agathiadis, the son of a Greek-Italian pharmacist, who was born and raised in Egypt. A few years before the 1952 revolution, he left his homeland and settled in Cameroon with his wife, where he immersed himself in the coffee trade.
In 1947, Georges Agathiadis, founder of the Agga brand, embarked on a journey to Sangmelima, a town located 500 kilometres from the plantations of Douala, Cameroon’s economic capital.
His eldest son, Philippe, gradually learned the ins and outs of the coffee trade while discovering the richness of Cameroon’s volcanic soils. He studied various cultivation and harvesting methods.
Deep in the African bush, Philippe established numerous coffee processing facilities on behalf of European multinationals, many of which continue to thrive today.
Our History
Second Generation
Specializing in the coffee trade, Philippe went on to work in more than 25 coffee-producing countries, including Brazil, Colombia, Kenya, Peru, Rwanda, and Zaire.
In 1987, Philippe was appointed a Coffee Quality Arbitrator by the Chambre Arbitrale des Cafés de Paris, a title recognized worldwide by coffee-producing countries. This distinction established Philippe Agathiadis as a connoisseur of the highest calibre.
That same year, Café Agga was founded in Quebec, driven by Philippe and Marc’s passion and enthusiasm, with their father’s guidance and support.
Philippe and Marc embody the spirit of Agga’s second generation, combining innovation with tradition. Philippe’s technical expertise and deep understanding of coffee cultivation, together with Marc’s strategic and commercial vision for global expansion, have taken the family business to new heights. Together, they honour their father’s legacy while bringing Agga to the world, guided by passion, quality, and integrity.

Third Generation
Over the years, Marc and Philippe’s children have learned the ropes and taken on increasing responsibility for various parts of the business. We are proud to be a third-generation family business.
Georges and Stephanie have been part of the family business for more than 10 years. Both play a key role, bringing dedication, expertise, and a shared passion for excellence.

The AGGA family is proud to introduce our secret weapon: Our Boys! That’s right! Your daily cup of coffee wouldn’t be possible without them. Not only do they produce the coffee you enjoy every day, but they also bring so much joy to our days at the office. Each one is irreplaceable and exceptional. These men are the heart of AGGA, and some have been with us for more than 20 years.
Always dedicated and eager to learn, these guys never fail to make us smile. Our team has been through many changes, including the introduction of BRCGS certification. This certification covers our roasting and packaging procedures to ensure product quality while meeting food safety requirements. These guys are our heroes, saving your mornings, one cup at a time!
